here is a New Mom to be in your life and you want to get her something useful, thoughtful or maybe a gift she will think of you each time she uses. I hear you. So then, what do you get?
I am a 2nd time mom who likes to keep things simple and practical but can also appreciate the need for that little bit of something extra. These are my favorite unique gifts that I loved and used.

You can jump to the short list, but I recommend reading through the entire post to learn the explanations and uses of each of these.

1. Holidays Bibs

These holiday bibs are fun and unique. They are easy to mark the occasion and means the new mama doesn’t need to grab a “1st [insert Holiday here]” outfit. I used these bids with both my boys.

2.  Massage

Yes please. Pregnancy, delivery and postpartum are hard on a Mama’s body. We hurt from our head to our toes. Getting her a gift card massage could be a welcome gift that she can use at any time. I personally preferred a massage after the baby arrived because the therapist could apply deep pressure versus a prenatal massage that is much softer. Find a local spa or use a service like Spafinder where one card that can be used at thousands of participating locations.

3.  Meal Delivery Service

We all know that a newborn in the house means there is little sleep taking place. Help the new mom by having one less thing to think about and have a meal or a few meals delivered to her door. There are countless services and most even accommodate special diets like Ketogenic, Paleo, Vegan, etc. I love the fully cooked offerings from Clean Eatz Kitchen ($8.29 a meal in 2024)and Whole Body Fuel and found the price point competitive.

4.  Investment Account

Parents want the best for their children and what better way of doing that than with a financial head start. Provide the new mom with a check or cash with a note for her to apply the funds to the baby’s college or investment account. Maybe this isn’t something the new mom even had in mind, and she would be sure to thank you for the idea and helping her contribute!

5. Babysitting Coupons

Its amazing welcoming a little one into the world and as parents we love them with all our might. But even with all that love, parents need a break to recharge, refresh, and just spend some time alone. This one is easy to do if you live nearby, give her a hand made or purchased babysitting coupon book!  She will thank you, especially when she does get the courage to leave the house and wonder why she didn’t do it sooner!

6. Disposable Changing Pads

Having a newborn means there are boundless messes. I had the cute, quilted cotton changing pad covers, but quickly found out how often they would make it to the almost daily laundry pile. So instead, I found these disposable changing pad liners and they were a lifesaver! I just placed them on top my existing cotton liners and always had a spare underneath. Simple and efficient.

7. Extra Wide Burp Cloths

Babies and spit up are inevitable. These extra wide burp cloths are amazing because they are wide and help catch the spit up that always manages to make it onto your shirt. The all-white extra burp cloths are my favorite since it makes spot treating easy.

8. Pocket Bibs

There are bibs for every need and eating is one! These pocket bibs are amazing. They help to catch food that would otherwise land on baby’s lap (hello laundry bin) and instead land conveniently in the pocket for an easy clean up. We used these bibs when our baby was starting solids and as a toddler when eating independently.

9. Versatile Gift Card

A baby registry is so helpful for the new mom, but even as a 2nd time mom who had everything from my first baby, I still found myself grabbing all sorts of little things I didn’t realize I needed. Having a Visa or Amazon gift card goes a long way including using it for things like diaper or breast cream that she may not have wanted to add to her registry. You can make your gift card special, by adding a little note of your thoughtfulness.

10. Sized Up Diapers & Wipes

Diapers are a staple and while not a glamourous gift, they are essential! Think about getting a size 2 or 3 which will be helpful and practical since other guests will likely bring newborn and size 1. She will think of you months down the line as she breathes a sign of relief at already having a larger size on hand. As for baby wipes, you can never have enough – go for fragrance free or water wipes for baby’s delicate skin.
